MUSIC VIDEOS

With the oversaturation of the music industry it often requires more than just a song to build your brand.

In today’s social media era, attention has become arguably more important than the art itself. It’s mandatory to have content when world building and growing your audience.

I often recommend “mini music videos”. A minute music video in the form of a TikTok or Reel to grab the consumers attention, rather than trying to take them off platform to another such as YouTube.

JUMP!

Artists and content creators often think they need to reinvent the wheel. Often times, consumers seem to latch onto what is already familiar.

Being a producer and audio engineer as well as a content creator, I’m constantly looking for inspiration and projects that are multifaceted. I was inspired by the rise of Jermaine Dupri and his label So So Def.

I decided to reproduce the record “Jump” by Kriss Kross using the original samples. I showed it to a close friend and fellow artist, Tyler John, to lay the vocals and we knew we needed a visual to match.

We wanted to pay homage and incorporate elements of the original video, in addition to putting our own twist on it.

Below is a TikTok showcasing the making of the record. It was produced and recorded at my very own Space.wav Studios.

when it’s over.

I was commissioned by a label to put together a package of videos for a close friend and artist, JoshuaNow. We wanted to put together a campaign for his single “When It’s Over”. We shot a total of 4 videos that would live on social media as apart of the single rollout.

Mello Cartier recently released his single “Hella Friends”. Rather than opt for a full music video, we opted for short form to live on social media rather than trying to get consumers off platform or digital streaming services.

Another advantage of this format is that if it performs well, cutting a full music video is always an option.
